I set up this fundraiser because I find it important to support organizations like The Ocean Cleanup, to get a cleaner and healthier ocean for all! The Ocean Cleanup’s mission is to remove 90% of floating ocean plastic by 2040. Â

Last year my friend Ella and I, high school students, founded Kids Upcycling Club, a free community group that makes crafts with kids from recycled materials. Our mission is to teach younger kids how to recycle and push towards a fully renewable future creatively. We recently won the Youth Climate Action Bloomberg Philanthropies Fund, which gave us the funds to expand Kids Upcycling Club to a new project: Kids Upcycling Club PWR (Plastic Waste Reduction). During this project, we handmade jewelry and other small goods from used plastic. We spent this past summer networking and selling our products to donate to the Ocean Cleanup.
