In lieu of purchasing a costume, I am raising funds to clean the oceans

Instead of spending money AND adding to the trash in the world for our Annual Beckman Costume Contest, I am donating the "average costume cost" to help make a difference in rehabilitating our Earth for future generations.

$11.6 BILLION is how much Americans are projected to spend on Halloween in 2024 according to the National Retail Federation (NRF).

$7.5 BILLION is how much THE OCEAN CLEANUP estimates it will cost to clean up the Great Pacific Garbage Patch (GPGP).

If all Americans simply donated their Halloween budget for ONE year, we could raise enough money to clean up the GPGP.

In 2023 Investopia states the average costume cost was $32.49

I set up this fundraiser because I find it important to support organizations like The Ocean Cleanup, to get a cleaner and healthier ocean for all! The Ocean Cleanup’s mission is to remove 90% of floating ocean plastic by 2040.
