United Airlines: An Overview
United Airlines is one of the world's largest airlines, operating flights to more than 1,000 destinations in 123 countries and territories. Ranging from economy class to Polaris business class seating arrangements, United offers services that cater to travelers of all types - economy class to Polaris business class travelers are well catered for on its diverse fleet and eco-friendly initiatives such as inflight amenities that enhance comfort during long domestic flights.
United Air Lines began expanding its domestic routes during the 1930s to become the leading carrier in America. After World War II, United continued to broaden their network and service levels until merging with Capital Airlines in 1961 and becoming the world's largest carrier. United experienced rapid expansion into overseas routes in the 1980s; becoming the first American carrier to fly jumbo jets such as Boeing 747s while also pioneering innovations like computerized reservation systems, hotels, and rental car companies.
United Airlines serves nearly 100 airports around the globe and can be found in every major U.S. city, with hubs located in Chicago, Los Angeles, San Francisco and Houston offering nonstop flights to various parts of their service areas.
United Airlines operates over 500 aircraft, such as jumbo jets such as the Boeing 747 and Airbus A380. United is committed to fleet modernization and sustainability efforts with the goal of reducing fuel usage and emissions, offering amenities such as Polaris business class seating and free in-flight Wi-Fi service for their passengers.
United Airlines provides various in-flight amenities depending on the ticket you purchase and your status level in MileagePlus. Economy class passengers have their choice between an economy meal or Bistro on Board menu; Premium cabin passengers receive complimentary meals and drinks; in some instances children also benefit from amenities provided on selected flights.
United Airlines divides passengers into five boarding groups depending on their status level and cabin, which you can easily view online, in their app, or via phone call to them. Pre-boarding services are also provided for families traveling with small children, disabled passengers and active military members as well as priority boarding for Premier Silver elite members and passengers with certain United credit cards such as Explorer Card or Club Infinite Card memberships.
Before booking with United, be sure to review its fares and policies thoroughly before booking your flight. Booking can either be directly through them or third-party sites like Expedia or Kayak; be aware of whether bag fees apply as well as any changes/cancellation fees which might apply and familiarize yourself with United's baggage rules so there are no unpleasant surprises upon arriving at the airport.
