Evening Beach Clean Up

Tuesday 6th Jan
January 5th - 5:40p
A family is raking the trash and waste into piles while disposing of the non organic materials. Currently looking for options for waste management.

Morning trash on the Beach

Sunday 4th Jan
January 4th, 2026 - 8:19am
After speaking with a few locals about how they dispose of the incurably high and seemingly endless volume of plastic bottles and waste. They informed me that the most effective way to get rid of the trash is to burn it! They rake the trash into piles and set it ablaze, incarnating everything down to the smallest pieces of plastic. Obviously, this is not good for the environment, but seems to be the only temporary solution. Taking it one step at a time to get proper resources to these parts of the world is how it is fixed.

Collecting Beach Trash

Sunday 4th Jan
January 4th, 2026 - 8:22am
Set out to collect trash/ waste along the beach this morning, and within 10 minutes I had filled 2 bags with bottles, cans, and old crocs. The next issue that has made itself more prominent, is that  there is not an effective disposal system here in El Paredon.

The Driftwood Surfer Conservation Project

Sunday 4th Jan
For years The Driftwood Surfer Conservation Project, founded by Brant Early, have been buying the eggs back from the poachers and make sure that they end in a safe place: The El Paredon Turtle Hatchery. With the help of donations from tourists and online fundraisers, we have been able to save more than 40 thousand eggs last year alone. All the money went back into the local community.Â
