For Leo's 9th birthday, he has chosen to celebrate by setting up a fundraiser through The Ocean Cleanup—in lieu of gifts.
Leo has always loved the ocean, and it matters deeply to him to protect the animals (especially turtles) and ecosystems that call it home.
The Ocean Cleanup is a nonprofit organization dedicated to developing advanced technologies to rid the world’s oceans of plastic pollution. Their mission is to remove 90% of floating ocean plastic by 2040.

Happy birthday Leo! Great idea for your birthday present. We also want to help clean up the oceans and all the amazing creature that live there, especially the Leatherback turtles. I think a very important part of the solution is to reduce plastic waste at the sourced, i.e. stopping the plastic going into the ocean and then we won’t have to do as much cleanup. We miss you!
