The Ocean Cleanup’s mission is to remove 90% of floating ocean plastic by 2040.

Cleaning the oceans and rivers is critical in addressing one of the most pressing environmental challenges of our time: plastic pollution. Plastics, all kinds, not just bottles and bags, have inundated our waterways, wreaking havoc on marine and freshwater ecosystems. They pose serious threats to wildlife, entangling marine animals and being ingested, often leading to injury or death. Plastics break down into microplastics, infiltrating the food chain and potentially harming human health. I have never attempted this before, but this project is important to support generations of clean waterways. The oceans and rivers change lives when you experience it for the first time providing us with great physical and emotional therapeutic benefits.
