Saving the Turtles: Raising Funds to Clean Our Oceans
Hi, my name is Nova! I’m 7 years old, and my favourite animal is the turtle 🐢. I’m raising money to help clean our oceans so the turtles can be safe and happy.
I set up this fundraiser because I find it important to support organisations like The Ocean Cleanup, to get a cleaner and healthier ocean for all! The Ocean Cleanup’s mission is to remove 90% of floating ocean plastic by 2040.
I also want the ocean to be clean to help save sea turtles, which are endangered due to the overwhelming amount of plastic waste and pollution in our oceans. Sea turtles often mistake plastic for food, which can cause internal injuries, blockages, and even starvation. They also get entangled in plastic debris such as fishing nets, which can lead to drowning or prevent them from escaping predators. Even hatchlings are at risk when plastic covers nesting beaches.

Nova Runs to Save the Turtles 🐢💙

Hi, my name is Nova! I am 7 years old, and my favourite animal in the whole world is the turtle. Sadly, turtles are in danger because of all the plastic and pollution in our oceans. They sometimes eat plastic thinking it’s food, which makes them very sick, and they can get trapped in things like fishing nets. I want to help protect them by supporting ocean clean-up projects that make their homes safer.
That’s why I’ve set myself a very big challenge! 🏃♀️🌊
Over the next year, I am going to run 100 kilometres by 20th September 2026. To make it even more special, I will finish my challenge at the Swansea 10k. This is my way of showing how much I care about the ocean and turtles—and I hope to inspire others to care too!
My goal is to raise £1,000 to give to projects that work hard to clean up our oceans and protect turtle habitats. Every pound will make a difference—helping remove plastic from the water, making beaches safer for baby turtles, and giving sea life a cleaner, healthier home.
This is going to be a tough challenge, but every step I take will remind me of the turtles I’m running for. 🐢 Every kilometre will bring me closer to helping them swim safely in clean oceans.
